Nutrition for Triathlon Training
Dear Friend,
Now that the holiday season is officially here, nutrition becomes more important than ever!
Did you know that the #1 cause of colds and flus this time of year is not cold whether or stress, but over eating?
Next biggest cause of sickness is sugar.
Both sugar and over eating break down your immune system and allow in disease. Think about this when you go for your 2nd or 3rd piece of pie this season!
Since the most important thing is your health, watch it over the holidays and remember that just because “everyone else” seems to be over-indulging, and it’s society’s “in-thing” to do this time of year, it doesn’t mean you have to fall in line!
Enjoy,
Kevin

Tip of the Month: Building Strength
I’m constantly being asked about strength building for swimming. Most of the time, when someone asks me that question, their bigger problem is technique, not weak muscles. However, building strength in the core muscles can definitely help improve your swim.
If you are more in the intermediate range of swimmers, it’s a good idea to focus on strength training in the off season- whether it’s hitting the gym, or just doing basic exercises at home, such as the mattfurey.com combat fitness program.
Have a healthy and fit December!
